The Challenge

Kiwa Fire Safety Compliance were appointed to provide expert fire safety strategy support and advise throughout the duration of RIBA Stages 3 and 4 of the project.

During the process the client requested if Kiwa Fire Safety Compliance  could explore the possibility of reducing the fire resistance requirements to the structural steel of the commercial office block.

The Solution

Further to the initial scope of the project we were able to conduct a Time Equivalent engineering analysis capable of demonstrating and justifying a reduction of the fire resistance requirements of a number of structural steel members of the upper floors of the office block.

A comprehensive analysis was conducted with the findings collated within a technical report.

The Outcome

The analysis conducted by Kiwa Fire Safety Compliance was third party reviewed and approved by the relevant building authority.

The outcome enabled the client to reduce the fire protection requirements for a number of structural steel elements and in turn provided substantial project savings.
